VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Body Massage

Massage TrainingThe VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Body Massage (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a massage therapist. It is essential that you are aware this is a Level 3 qualification (A Level standard) which will include a significant time commitment outside the guided learning hours.

During the course you will develop a range of practical skills, enabling you to provide massage treatments using a variety of different techniques. You will also cover the principles and practices of complementary therapies, health and safety and client care, as well as undertaking a unit on business practices for the complementary therapist.

Entry Requirements

Students who have not previously achieved a qualification in Anatomy and Physiology will be required to take the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies alongside this diploma. This is integral to the course and no practical diploma in complementary therapies can be undertaken without an Anatomy and Physiology qualification.

How long does the course take?

The training takes place over 10 days; 1 day per week, usually coinciding with school term times, although this is flexible and agreed on booking.  You will also be required to undertake some guided home study as well as completion of a number of practical case study’s outside of these hours.

Tutor input and demonstrations are followed by practical application of skills and knowledge. Assignments, work packages and portfolio building are an integral part of the programme. Home study is vital for completion of theory work and completion at home of a minimum of 20 practical case studies will be necessary, other case studies will be completed in class.

During your course, you will undertake a minimum of 30 case study treatments and a minimum of three assessments of your practical skills. There is no end of term exam as you will build a portfolio of work throughout the course, and upon successful completion of this, evidence of your 30 case studies and successful completion of your practical assessments, you will then qualify as a professional massage therapist.

If you are also studying the Anatomy and Physiology course, the Body Massage  training will usually  take place after the completion of the A&P unit, so a commitment of one day per week for 20 weeks will be required in addition to home study outside of these hours.
